This is the perfect start for those who’ve never picked up a set of knitting needles, or who have tried to learn before and need a refresher.

Free if you bring your own tools/materials, $15 to have materials provided for you

Recommended tools/materials:
-Size 9 or 10 knitting needles: Either straight needles or circular needles with at least a 16” cord
-Chunky weight yarn: Sometimes this is indicated with a #5 and referred to as “heavy”)
If you want a great place to get really affordable supplies, Utica Creative Reuse is a great resource

I also recommend starting with bamboo needles - metal needles are ok but if you can get bamboo, they will be much easier to work with when you’re just starting out. I still use wooden knitting needles for most projects.
